Winning Legs

(Legs towards a Grand Championship)
By Kelly Hadrava

Going to rabbit shows are really fun, but winning is even better. Everyone wants to accomplish the goal of winning. At a rabbit show there are many awards to win, and be very proud of. A leg is a high honor given to your rabbit by the judge. To win a leg there must be 3 or more exhibitors and 5 or more animals in that particular class, with your animal winning fist place. Best of Variety (BOV) , Best Opposite Sex Variety, (BOSV), Best of Breed (BOB), and Best Opposite Sex Breed (BOS) are all very high honors  to win within the breed and they are all worthy of a leg. However you can not win a leg if there are not 3 or more exhibitors and 5 more more animals competing against you. Only one leg per animals per show is given.  On the leg the highest honor is awarded.  The actual leg is mailed to you with your show report. You need 3 legs, 2 of which are from different judges with one of the legs being a Senior leg (rabbit 6 months or older) to get a Grand Champion Certificate.
Many people wait to register their rabbits until they have all 3 legs that way they can grand them out and register them at the same time.
